Travelling to PopFest 2016

The University is located on the south side of Manchester city centre. PopFest 2016 will be located in the Humanities Bridgeford Street Building (building 35 on the campus map)

Travel by train

The Humanities Bridgeford Street Building is located close to both Oxford Road train station (7 minutes walking distance) and Piccadilly Station. If travelling to Piccadilly Station, the Oxford Road link bus (number 147) runs from Piccadilly Rail Station across the campus (the closest bus stop is by the Aquatics Centre, 1 minute walk from there). A taxi from Piccadilly Station to the Oxford Road area of the campus will cost you about £5.

Travel by air

If you plan to travel by air to The University of Manchester, our nearest airport is Manchester Airport.

Manchester Airport is one of the largest and busiest in the country. It is located about 10 miles (16km) south of the city centre, about 30 minutes from the University.

The airport has a number of transport links to the city:

  • Train – The airport's two terminals are linked directly to the city centre by a fast, frequent 24-hour train link to both Piccadilly and Oxford Road stations. (please check
  • Taxi – A taxi from the airport to the University will cost approximately £20.
  • Bus – Local buses also run to the Oxford Road campus
